RCMP RELEASE:
On Jan. 23, 2025 at approximately 7:45 P.M., Lac La Biche RCMP responded to a crash notification from a cell phone, leading them to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 55, between Range Road 161 and Range Road 162, in the County of Lac La Biche.
When RCMP arrived it was discovered that there was a head on collision between a red Ford Escape and a white Ford Super Duty towing a travel trailer.
Lac La Biche RCMP worked diligently, with the assistance of Boyle RCMP, Lac La Biche Fire Department, Lac La Biche Protective Services, AHS Emergency Medical Services, RCMP Collision Reconstruction Analyst, and STARS.
Life saving measures were attempted on the two occupants from the Ford Escape, occupied by a male and female, both residents of Plamondon, Alta., were declared deceased on scene.
Life saving measures were also attempted on the two occupants from the Ford Super Duty, and one female, a resident of High Prairie, Alta., was declared deceased on scene, while the male, a resident of Glendon, Alta., was extracted with by the jaws of life, and then was transported to the Lac La Biche Hospital before being transported to Edmonton via STARS with serious life-threatening injuries.
The highway was cleared for regular traffic around 4:00 A.M. on Jan 24, 2025.
This investigation is still ongoing with the assistance of Alberta RCMP’s Collision Reconstruction Analyst. Lac La Biche RCMP request any assistance from drivers in the area who may have dash cam footage, or who witnessed the collision, to please contact the Lac La Biche RCMP.
